KJV Preacher

As to add to the question from Promise land. A call out to my KJV Brethren. You are called to preach a revival at a church that does not use the KJV. Do you read your text from KJV or their version?

  1. I would let that pastor know that I would quote from the KJV before he invites me to preach.

  2. I am not a preacher, but if I were, I would not be willing to compromise. When I received the call, I would share with the pastor that I preach from the KJV to make sure that was not going to be a problem. If it was going to be a problem, I would have to respectfully decline the invitation.

  3. Preach from the K.J.V. When they invite you they more than likely all ready know your a K.J.V. man.

  4. Obviously, the KJV. That's a strange question. Most of the ABA preachers preach from the KJV in their church pulpits. It's at youth camps and conferences that they let their true colors show. That and in their personal study and personal witnessing. I wouldn't figure it'd be a problem, but I'd never preach from anything other than the KJV, the Third Millennium Bible, or another static/formal/complete/perfect equivalence translation of the Masoretic Text and Received Text.

Anything else would be condoning use of it. Now, concerning witnessing, I almost ALWAYS have a small Bible on me. But if I happen to find a situation where I forgot it, and someone else has their NIV or whatever, I may use it to simply prove the Bible teaches something.

I take that on this stand. A lost man can use KJV only and go to Hell. A lost man needs salvation more than ANY other teaching at that moment. After they are saved and baptized, that's where you begin teaching them the "all things".

  5. Just so all know, I'm MT, TR, KJ and static equivalence translation ONLY! I even wrote my Master Thesis on it.

  6. Definitely KJV only...if they had a problem with this I would not preach the Revival.

As far as witnessing goes...you can take any version of the Bible that the person has and follow the Roman Road of Salvation with it or show them John 3:16...you may have to explain what the verses mean but you can use what they happen to have on their shelf.

I agree with "slim" that that they, more than likely know you, and will not either not call or will inform the Church that KJV will be used in the preaching.

  7. Use KJV....if they don't use KJV then you would probably have to bring 10 different Bibles to meet their needs.

  8. Having preached in almost 100 different ABA churches over the years, I've never ran into one that didn't allow me to use my KJV Bible.

  9. I would use KJV only if I were to accept such an invitation! I would be shocked if a non KJV only church would call on me to preach.
