I am priviledged to be the new pastor Oak Flat MBC in Huntington, Tx. I see God moving in all aspects of this happening. My family and I are so looking forward to moving there to be able to be fulltime about the Lords work. The people there are wonderful. Pray for us.

Men need to respond to God's call to preach. I don't believe Go's math is off. I believe God calls enough men to preach and pastor to serve in the churches Jesus has estabolished, yet numerous churches are without pastors. God is not at fault in this, men are. If God is calling you to preach, answer His call.

Shawn's Last Baseball Game

Sat. June 5, 2009 Shawn played his last baseball game. This year in baseball, pitching machine, has been a year that only God could script.
We were not able to be in town on the day the players chose their numbers so we did not get a choice. Shawn was given #1. He hit the ball about 80% of his at bats, but because of his muscle weakness was regularly thrown out at 1st. On three occasions he got on base, then was batted in to score. He calls those his home runs because he got to run home.
Shawn's team played a tournament in Bradly, AR. Shawn's team won every game and was about to begin the Championship game. A thunderstorm rolled in and they called the game. Shawn's team had already beat the team they were about to play so by that Shawn's team won the tournament.
Now I am going to tell this part of the story as Shawn told it to my mother on the phone after the game. "Grandma guess what we were playing in a tournament today and we won all our games to the championship. A storm came, but we already beat that team so we won the championship. We all got a little trophy for winning and they gave the coach a big trophy. It was as big as me. The coach said he was going give the big trophy to one of the players and guess who he gave it to? Me and I got the game ball because I made my first homerun, that means he scored."
On Friday May 22 KTBS channel 3 showed up at Shawn's Baseball game. The were videoing Shawn and not the other players. I found out that His coaches had nominated Shawn for athlete of the week. It aired on June 3rd. They did a wonderful job on the story.
The best thing of that night was something we never would have expected. Shawn was up to bat. We were up by 11. Our coach was only advancing one base for each hit we got not to run up the score. He talked to the other team's coach before this inning and told him he wouldn't run up the score, but when Shawn bats he was going to let him advance as far as he can go. Well Shawn was up to bat, bases loaded, first pitch, foul down first base line, second pitch foul out side third base, third pitch he hammered toward second base on the 3rd base side. He ran and got on first. The out fielder over threw the third baseman trying for another runner. Shawn is sent to second. The catcher gets the ball and tries to throw Shawn out at second. He throws a rocket into the outfield. Shawn is sent to third. The center fielder and the right fielder are fighting over the ball. Shawn rounds third and heads home. Three runs have scored. The out fielder launches the ball towards home. Shawn is feet from the plate when the ball lands and bounces over the catcher's head. Shawn slides home. GRANDSLAM! Shawn got to play pitcher for the rest of the game.
Shawn played his last game hopefully only the last of this year. You can see a video of his last 2 at bats and his victory lap during the end of the year tourny at Marjorie's Facebook page. After the game he asked his coach if he could run the bases one more time. The coach announced to everyone there that Shawn was about to run a victory lap for the team. You should have seen them cheer him on.
You can see a replay of Shaw's athlete of the week at KTBS.com then click SPORTS then Athlete of the Week. I should post June 7, 8, or 9 then run for a week. they are to air another spot about Shawn on KTBS 3 Sun. June 7 at 6pm. Then on PAX 21 at 9pm.

The Measure of Church Growth

How can we measure church growth?

Many things are contingent on being able to measure church and mission growth.
I know they are Jesus's churches, but men are overseers of those churches. Jesus runs His churches perfectly. Yet the men placed in leadership positions are flawed, they are sinners, they make mistakes, and some have evil motives.

Spiritual growth is more important than numerical growth, I agree, but you show me how to measure that and I'll run with it.
I do believe spiritual growth will lead to numerical growth.

So, what numbers do we go by?
Professions of faith. Read mission reports the number of Professions look good, but look next to that number and see how many are following in obedience with baptism. That number is 75-95% lower than the number of professions.
Should we lessen the significance of a profession and place more significance on the number baptized?
I think there is a hunt for Numbers. Those seeking support are out to count anything that looks like a profession. You can see this clearly in the SBC, but you can see it in the ABA as well.

My question is how do we measure?

KJV Preacher

As to add to the question from Promise land. A call out to my KJV Brethren. You are called to preach a revival at a church that does not use the KJV. Do you read your text from KJV or their version?

Important Church Worship

Why do people see Sunday Morning Service as being more important than Sunday Evening or Wednesday Service?
